Driving
Palmer Gulch is located just up SD Highway 244 from the Mt. Rushmore National Memorial, halfway between Keystone and Hill City SD. You can reach the Black Hills via Interstate 90, US Highway 85, or US Highway 385. Once you get to the Black Hills, follow the Mt. Rushmore signs.
From I-90, Rapid City
Exit 61 will direct you to Elk Vale/Catron from I-90. Stay on Elk Vale/Catron for 8.5 miles. Turn left at the stop light directing traffic to Hwy 16 South. Continue travel on Hwy 16 South for approximately 10 miles. Take the right-hand lane to Hill City SD and continue through Hill City on Hwy 16. Travel 3 miles beyond Hill City SD and turn left on Hwy 244. Palmer Gulch/Mt Rushmore KOA is on the left side.
From Denver, CO
Travel I-25 North to Wyoming. Take Exit 17 east on US-85 to Torrington. After 100 miles, turn left on US-85/US-26 to keep following US-85. Turn right on US-18 and cross into South Dakota. Turn left on US-385. Follow 385 into Hill City SD and turn onto Hwy 16, heading south. Turn again onto Hwy 244. Palmer Gulch/Mt Rushmore KOA is on the left side.
Shuttle
