We will assign an event coordinator to work with you through every detail of your event including: making reservations for Lodge rooms, cabins, executive lodges, camping, gathering spaces, and catering. Our event coordinator will confirm availability of your dates and set up a block under your group name, then you will receive an accommodations list.

  • Your group members may call our reservation staff to select their accommodations from the initial block or your group contact can provide us with a guest list.
  • Rates are established in October of the prior year. An updated rate schedule will be sent to you as soon as it is available. Rates do not include sales tax.
  • A deposit of the first night's rent on each accommodation is due by December 31 of the year before the gathering unless the group coordinator specifies an alternate arrangement.
  • Reservations without a deposit on January 1 will be cancelled without further notification.
  • Final Payment is due upon arrival.

Catering

The Ponderosa caters to a variety of locations at the resort, including the Elkhorn/Harney Room, The Old Palmer Hall, and the Picnic Shelter. Menus are priced per person for adults and children 4-12. Prices do not include South Dakota sales tax and gratuity. Meals are served with potatoes, vegetables, breadsticks and butter, dessert, lemonade and iced tea. Call for pricing.

Check-in

Upon arrival the group contact should check in at the lodge desk for an informational packet and to finalize arrangements for the group.

Early arrivals are welcome to use the recreational facilities; however, rooms/cabins may not be ready for occupancy.

Check-out

11:00 am
Rooms and cabins must be vacated by check-out time to prepare for incoming guests.

Quiet Hours

10:00 pm - 7:00 am

Group Gathering Facilities

Our group gathering facilities extend beyond overnight accommodations, as we also have meeting facilities that can be rented by the day or half day.

Harney Conference Room

Harney Conference Room

Located in the KOA building, this room seats up to 50 people for banquet-style seating. For your convenience the room is equipped with a small refrigerator.

Limited audio-visual* equipment and coffee urns are available; please make prior reservations. Please feel free to arrange the tables to accommodate your group. Bagged trash will be removed daily. Quiet hours are from 10:00 pm to 7:00 am.

*Additional charge. $100 charge per day for facility.

Elkhorn Conference Room

Elkhorn Conference Room

Located in the new KOA building and approximately 784 square feet, this room seats up to 65 people for banquet style seating. The room is conveniently equipped with a small refrigerator, sink and microwave and is audio/visual equipment ready.

Limited audio-visual* equipment and coffee urns are available; please make prior reservations. Please feel free to arrange the tables to accommodate your group. Bagged trash will be removed daily. Quiet hours are from 10:00 pm to 7:00 am.

Picnic Shelter

Picnic Shelter

The 30 by 60 foot outdoor covered shelter has roll down canvas on three sides and an enclosed stage at one end with a gravel floor. There are lights, electrical outlets, a campfire ring, and picnic tables. The shelter is conveniently located close to restroom facilities.

Old Palmer Hall

Old Palmer Hall

This historic building was the original guest hall when Palmer Gulch was operated as a guest ranch in the early 1930's. The main room is 28 feet by 36 feet and has a huge fireplace; firewood provided. A side room 11 feet by 11 feet can be set up for food service. The kitchen is equipped with electric range and full size refrigerator. Cookware and utensils are not supplied.
