Camping in the Spring | Palmer Gulch
February 6, 2014
You have probably been cooped up inside this winter and looking forward to enjoying the outdoors. Camping is a great spring adventure to enjoy. Spring is a time to gather with friends and family and enjoy the beautiful outdoors!
Palmer Gulch is conveniently located near many famous Black Hills attractions. Our lodge, mountain cabins, and camping facilities are some of South Dakota's greatest accommodations for lodging near Mount Rushmore National Memorial on the Peter Norbeck Scenic Byway. In addition, our location is only a short distance away from Custer State Park, Crazy Horse Memorial, Wind Cave National Park, and the lakes and trails of the Black Hills National Forest.
Whether you prefer RV parks and campgrounds or a resort-style vacation, your family will love camping in the spring at Palmer Gulch. Enjoy the splendor of the Black Hills while relaxing amongst the Ponderosa Pine covered hills, clear blue skies, and sparkling streams of our hillside retreat. The Palmer Gulch Resort in the central Black Hills has everything you need.
To enjoy a fun Camping experience in the spring, we have a few tips on what to pack:
Warm clothes- It is important to pack warm clothes because the weather can change quickly in the spring, especially in the Black Hills where the weather is known to change quickly. If you are prepared you will be able to relax and enjoy your camping trip even if it gets a bit chilly.
Games- Enjoy time together and turn off the electronics. Pack some of your favorite family board games or a deck of cards for your camping trip. Sit back, relax and enjoy some tech-free time with friends and family.
Shelter- Make sure you pack a tarp to throw over your tent if you choose to camp with a tent. The tarp will keep you warm through colder temperatures and protect against the rain.
First Aid Kit- It is important to pack a first aid kit in case an injury does occur. Your first aid kit should include: band aids, tweezers, and medicine. You can also add any other items you or your family might need in an emergency.
Flashlight- Having a flashlight is an important necessity when camping. Trying to walk to the bathroom in the dark isn’t fun! Having a flashlight will also help you find items in your tent at night much easier.
Palmer Gulch offers a wide variety of high-quality accommodations. Our camping grounds with rental cabins provide the perfect out-of-doors vacation, facilitating both tent camping and RV hookup, as well as the traditional KOA camping cabin experience. RV deluxe sites are available with 50-amp electrical service, cable TV, and Wi-Fi. All lodging options make for an ideal Black Hills SD vacation location for groups both small and large.
At Palmer Gulch you will enjoy the beautiful Black Hills scenery of South Dakota. We offer a wide variety of family-friendly activities and accommodations for our guests.
