Camping Recipes for your Black Hills Camping Adventure

March 17, 2014

It’s hard to believe that warmer temperatures are on the way after a cold winter. Spring will be here before we know it though. It’s time to get out the camping gear and enjoy a relaxing camping adventure in the beautiful Black Hills.

Make sure you have all your camping gear and some delicious treats to enjoy. Sometimes it can feel like a hassle to get all the food together and the gear, but with a few recipes in mind you will be having the fun camping experience you planned! Before you get started, why not try some new recipes while camping this year? It’s always fun to have a new recipe idea for camping!

            Camping Recipes:

Peanut butter cup s’more- Instead of the usual s’more with a Hershey bar, this recipe takes s’mores to a whole new level. For this recipe you will need 2 large marshmallows, 2 graham crackers, and one peanut butter cup. First, roast the marshmallows to a nice golden brown perfection. Then place a marshmallow on each graham cracker and the peanut butter cup in the middle. The marshmallows will melt the chocolate and peanut butter to a tasty s’mores paradise that you won’t forget!

Grilled Cheese- Grilled cheese is a delicious snack for home, so why not take it camping? You can use a buddy burner that allows you to place the bread, cheese, and toppings right into it or you can use tinfoil and place the sandwich above the coals. Get creative with your grilled cheese by adding in items like ham, pepperoni, and jalapenos. Turn a boring grilled cheese into a tasty treat by just adding a few toppings!

Potatoes- Potatoes are a tasty meal to enjoy around your camp fire this                               year! Hollow out the center of your potato and add toppings of your  choice. A unique spin on the average potato meal is adding tomato sauce  and sausage, then wrapping it up in tinfoil and placing it over the coals to cook.

Let’s face it, sometimes our meals don’t turn out as planned or you forget something. What do you do now? Well, the solution for that is very easy when you make Palmer Gulch Resort your camping destination. Palmer Gulch provides a variety of dining options. So if you don’t feel like cooking, let us take care of it for you. There’s nothing quite like Grapes and Grinds, the Ponderosa Restaurant & Mountain Canyon Pub, Papa's Pancake Tent, and the Chuckwagon Diner. Or, if you are looking for something sweet, try Fiddlesticks or the Turtle Town Ice Cream Parlor for a tasty Black Hills treat!
